Universal Shoe Clamps

PT4-600 SMALL SHOE CLAMP - PT4-700 LARGE SHOE CLAMP

In recent years, the number of sizes of brake shoes in U.S., European and Japanese cars has grown quite large. More than 30 different diameters now are used, and some shoes need such a specific clamp that it is not interchangeable with any other shoe. Therefore, the PT4-600 Universal small shoe clamp and the PT4-700 Universal large shoe clamp can be very useful and very cost effective.

The PT4-600 is designed to be used on shoes up to 9” in diameter, with a minimum of distortion. The PT4-700 will handle drum diameters from 9 ½” to 12” also with a minimum of distortion.

Both the PT4-600 Universal small shoe clamp and the PT4-700 Universal large shoe clamp are equipped with the same belleville springs system as the Full Contact Clamps, and are designed to be used with either the MT500 table or the PT400 table for ease of assembly.

NOTE: It should be noted that these Universal Clamps are not meant to totally replace the Full Contact Clamps. The Full Contact Clamp is still faster, easier to use, and assures that the correct radius will be used.

However, there is a real need for a universal application, and the Universal Clamps are well suited to do the job efficiently and economically. For example, the Large and Small Universal Clamps are the only clamps included in the B2-5 and B2-6 Oven Kits, since they together can handle nearly every size of passenger brake shoe.
